About

Mary Clare is a Carlow based Artist. She has spent most of her life studying and painting. In the last few years she has studied Art Therapy, which she now uses to reflect her free spirit and enthusiasm for painting. She draws her inspiration from the Irish Atlantic Coast Line. She has always felt a strong emotional connection to the sea. Her paintings capture the magnificent colours and intensity of the changing weather. Her preferred medium is oil paint, applied with a brush and palette knife, which allows her to move the paint in gestural marks. There are some special places which hold a real emotional resonance. She loves visiting the West Coast and has a particular attachment to Galway and Co. Clare. Recently she has started to explore the South Coast of Ireland, and has found great inspiration in Co. Wexford and Waterford. Mary Clare exhibits her paintings throughout the South East in many festivals and galleries. She is also a member of a local Art Group "Chroma" who hold an annual exhibition in Carlow.
